차세대 오픈소스 비디오 코텍으로 알려진 AV1 생태계에 삼성이 참여하기로 결정했다. AOMedia Video codec v1.0은 구글의 VP10과 모질라의 Daala 그리고 시스코의 Thor 프로젝트가 통합해 진행하게 된 프로젝트로, HEVC(H.265) 같은 상용 코덱을 대체하기 위한 목적으로 개발이 진행 중이다. 코덱 성능은 기존 상용 코덱 보다 높은 압축률을 달성하는 것이 목표인데 지난해 진행 된 공개 테스트에서 VP9이나 H.265 대비 30% 정도의 데이터 레이트 절감을 이뤄낸 것으로 알려...
