미국 공군연구소(AFRL)가 '울트라'(Unmanned Long-endurance Tactical Reconnaissance Aircraft, ULTRA)를 공개했다.

13일(현지시간) 온라인 매체 기가진에 따르면 울트라는 장시간 비행이 가능한 무인 정찰기로, 400파운드(약 181.4kg) 이상의 짐을 싣고 3일(약 80시간) 이상 비행할 수 있다. 해당 기체는 태평양 지역 정찰 임무 수행을 목적으로 한다.

울트라는 공군연구소(AFRL)의 급속 혁신 센터(CRI)에서 고안하고 DZYNE 테크놀로지스(DZYNE Technologies Incorporated)가 협력하여 개발됐으며, 유인 스포츠 글라이더를 재활용하여 비용을 절감하면서도 높은 내구성을 확보했다.
